Exchange rate

An exchange rate is the rate of the amount it takes to sell or buy of a currency in order to get one unit of money of another currency.

Exchange rates are particularly important when a patent holder wants to renew their patents in many countries in different currencies. In this scenario, the currency of the invoice for the renewal service differs from the one which is to be paid to the local patent office, therefore, there can be extra costs due to the fluctuation of the exchange rate in the time period between funds is requested from your renewal provider until the funds arrive at the patent office.
