Trademark renewal fees in Chile: costs, due dates and grace period
Renewing a Chilean trademark costs 6 UTM per class, paid to the Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial (INAPI) when the renewal request is filed. A registration lasts 10 years from its registration date. You can renew from six months before expiry and up to six months after it, when the fee rises each month, reaching 12 UTM per class in the sixth month.

What are the trademark renewal due dates in Chile?
A Chilean registration lasts 10 years from the date it was entered in the register. The renewal request, with proof of payment, can be filed from six months before the expiry date.
The first renewal is due 10 years from the registration date. INAPI accepts the request from six months before expiry. The fee must be paid and proven when the request is filed; there is no later payment step.
For example, if the registration date is 2016-03-11, the renewal window opens on 2025-09-11 and the registration expires on 2026-03-11.
A renewed registration runs for 10 years from the previous expiry date and keeps its registration number. There is no limit on the number of renewals.
For example, once renewed in 2026, the next renewal is due by 2036-03-11.
Chilean trademarks are renewed with the Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial (INAPI), under the Industrial Property Law (consolidated text, DFL 4 of 2022). Since 9 May 2022, the six-month window before and after expiry applies to all types of mark.
Chile has been a member of the Madrid Protocol since 4 July 2022. An international registration designating Chile is renewed through WIPO, not INAPI.
Your renewal window opens six months before expiry, here 11 Sep 2025, and the deadline is 11 Mar 2026. Miss it and the mark can still be renewed until 11 Sep 2026 with the fee rising 20% a month. Each renewal adds another 10 years, with no limit on how many times.

Chile's late fee adds 20% of the 6 UTM base fee for each further month after expiry, as set out in INAPI's 2026 fee table. Renewals are filed electronically, with proof of payment made through the Chilean Treasury (Tesorería General de la República).

Missed a trademark renewal deadline in Chile?
Renewal requests are still accepted for six months after expiry, but the fee rises by 20% of the base fee for each further month. Under INAPI's 2026 fee table, a request filed in the first month after expiry costs 6 UTM per class, rising to 12 UTM per class in the sixth month. After six months the registration lapses automatically, and there is no restoration route.
If the registration expires on 11 Mar 2026, a renewal request can still be filed until 11 Sep 2026. The per-class fee depends on the month after expiry in which it is filed.
