Trademark renewal fees in Colombia: costs, due dates and grace period
Renewing a Colombian trademark online in 2026 costs COP 734,000 for the first class plus COP 360,500 for each additional class, paid to the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC). A registration lasts 10 years from its grant date. You can renew from six months before expiry, or within six months after it at a higher grace-period fee.

What are the trademark renewal due dates in Colombia?
A Colombian registration lasts 10 years from the date it was granted. Renewal can be requested from six months before the expiry date. A deadline that falls on a non-working day moves to the next working day.
The first renewal falls due 10 years from the grant date. The SIC accepts it from six months before expiry. The owner or anyone with a legitimate interest can request it.
For example, if the grant date is 2016-03-11, the renewal window opens on 2025-09-11 and the deadline is 2026-03-11.
Each renewal adds 10 years on the original terms. There is no limit on the number of renewals.
For example, once renewed in 2026, the next renewal is due by 2036-03-11.
Colombian trademarks are renewed with the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio, SIC). The renewal rules come from Andean Community Decision 486, which applies directly in Colombia.
Colombia has been a member of the Madrid Protocol since 2012. An international registration designating Colombia is renewed through WIPO, not the SIC.
Your renewal window opens six months before expiry, here 11 Sep 2025, and the deadline is 11 Mar 2026. Miss it and the mark can still be renewed until 11 Sep 2026 at the grace-period fee. Each renewal adds another 10 years, with no limit on how many times.
Official trademark renewal fees by year in Colombia
Official 2026 SIC fees in COP, set by Resolution 6167 of 2026. The first class carries the full fee and each additional class a lower one. Filing online costs less than filing on paper.
| Fee type | Official fee (COP) |
|---|---|
| Renewal, first class (online) | 734,000 |
| Each additional class (online) | +360,500 |
| Renewal in the grace period, first class (online, total) | 1,002,000 |
| Grace period, each additional class (online, total) | +492,000 |
| Renewal, first class (paper) | 896,500 |
| Each additional class (paper) | +437,500 |
| Typical 3-class renewal (online) | 1,455,000 |
The grace-period amounts are total fees, not surcharges: COP 1,002,000 replaces COP 734,000 for the first class online. There is no reduced renewal fee for SMEs or individuals; those discounts apply only to new applications. The SIC sets new fees each year, so check the schedule in force on the day you pay.

Missed a trademark renewal deadline in Colombia?
For six months after expiry, the registration stays fully in force and can still be renewed at the grace-period fee. In 2026 that is COP 1,002,000 for the first class and COP 492,000 for each additional class online. These amounts replace the normal fees rather than being added to them: the extra cost is COP 268,000 for the first class and COP 131,500 for each additional class. If no renewal is filed by the end of the grace period, the registration lapses automatically, and there is no restoration route.
If the deadline of 11 Mar 2026 is missed, the renewal can still be filed until 11 Sep 2026 at the grace-period fee.

10 years from the grant date. The SIC accepts renewal from six months before expiry, and for six months after it at the grace-period fee.
2. How much more does a late Colombian renewal cost?
In 2026, renewing online in the grace period costs COP 1,002,000 for the first class instead of COP 734,000, and COP 492,000 instead of COP 360,500 for each additional class. After the grace period the registration lapses and cannot be restored.
3. How long does a Colombian trademark last?

5. Is there a reduced renewal fee for small businesses?
No. The SIC's SME and individual discounts apply to new applications only. Renewals are charged at the standard rate.
