Trademark renewal fees in Turkey: costs, due dates and grace period
You renew a Turkish trademark with TURKPATENT, in TRY, every 10 years from the filing date. The renewal window opens six months before expiry. One fee covers up to two classes. Miss the deadline and a six-month grace period runs at a substantially higher rate, 15,420 TRY against 8,730.
What are the trademark renewal due dates in Turkey?
Turkey counts the 10-year term from the filing date. The renewal window opens six months before the expiry date and closes on it.
The first renewal falls due 10 years from the filing date, payable to TURKPATENT. Renewal can be requested from six months before the expiry date, and not earlier.
For example, if the filing date is 2015-03-15, the renewal window opens on 2024-09-15 and the deadline is 2025-03-15.
Each renewal extends protection for a further 10 years, on the same window. Protection is renewable indefinitely, with no limit on the number of renewals.
For example, once renewed in 2025, the next renewal will be due by 2035-03-15.
In Turkey, trademarks are renewed through the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT), which operates under the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Renewal is required to keep a Turkish trademark registration active.
Turkish trademark practice is governed by Industrial Property Law No. 6769, in force since 2017. The law consolidated Turkey’s trademark, patent, design and geographical indication rules into a single instrument and brought them closer to EU standards.
Turkey is a member of the Madrid Protocol. If your trademark is an International Registration designating Turkey, the renewal of that international registration is handled through WIPO Madrid System procedures rather than directly through TURKPATENT.

Missed a trademark renewal deadline in Turkey?
A six-month grace period runs from the expiry date, conditional on paying the higher post-expiry rate. Turkey prices the grace period as a separate fee rather than a percentage surcharge, so the base renewal rises from 8,730 to 15,420 TRY and each extra class from 750 to 1,310. Marks not renewed inside those six months lapse.
If the renewal deadline of 15 Mar 2025 is missed, the mark stays renewable until 15 Sep 2025. Settle the renewal fee and the late fee inside that window to keep it in force.

1. When is the first trademark renewal filing due in Turkey?
The first renewal is due at the end of the initial 10-year term, calculated from the application date. You can file the renewal request within the 6 months before expiry, and the fee must be paid at the same time. A 6-month grace period after expiry is available at a higher fee.
2. Can I renew my trademark after missing the deadline?
Yes. Within the 6-month grace period after the expiry date, you can still renew by paying the late renewal fee. In 2026 this is TRY 15,420 for up to two classes, compared with TRY 8,730 on time.
3. How long does a Turkish trademark last?
A Turkish trademark registration lasts 10 years from the application date, and each renewal extends it for another 10 years. There is no limit to the number of times a trademark can be renewed, as long as renewal fees are paid on time.
4. Is the Turkish renewal fee charged per class?
Not from the first class. The standard renewal fee covers up to two classes. From the third class onwards, an additional fee applies for each class.
5. Do Turkish official fees change often?
Yes. TURKPATENT publishes a revised fee schedule each year, normally effective from 1 January. The 2026 schedule increased most official fees by around 20 to 25 percent. Budget for annual movement rather than assuming a stable figure across a renewal cycle.
